Almost time to say goodbye to 2018! The perfect finish to my last post of 2018, sharing 5 Healthy habits I have incorporated into my lifestyle most recently.
This year for me, particularly the later half has been a focus of health and wellness. Once becoming a mother it is is easy to push aside your own health and wellness. It got to the point where enough was enough and I wanted to start feeling more like my “old self” again. It does not have to be anything drastic. Perhaps just a couple of small lifestyle changes, a slight change of routine or even something you have been passionate about starting. These are my 5 new healthy habits I have incorporated into my life the last few months.
I plan on making 2019 my best and strongest yet when it come to my wellbeing. My goals are set!! I would love to hear any of your new healthy habits so please leave them below.
My 5 New Healthy Habits
1. Pilates
You don’t want to know how long I have been saying I wanted to start reformer pilates for?! I now wish I had started it sooner as I am completely addicted. So addicted I have even contemplated the idea of looking into teaching. Something I may look into in a year or so time if my passion for pilates gets stronger!
Pilates for me is my chill out/zone out time. Even when the glutes are burning or the abs are on fire there is something so calming about Pilates for me. Within 5 weeks (two sessions a week) of starting I noticed a huge difference in my core suddenly becoming a whole lot stronger. My legs have also started taking on a different (perhaps more defined, even my husband has commented) shape! It is the one thing for myself I can not miss out on each week. I look forward to seeing how my body looks and feels in the new year!
2. Health Lab Blends
Follow me on Instagram you will know I am a huge fan of Health Lab Balls. The perfect snack for the busy mum lifestyle. Throw in your bag and eat on the go. Recently Health Lab launched a beauty and wellness blends range. With four blends available Skin, Lifestyle, Gut Goodness and Sleep Well. All with varied benefits you will most likely want them all. I have been trying the Skin Blend and Gut Goodness Blend. Both are equally delicious and easy to drink. I generally mix mine into a smoothie or drink solely with almond milk.
Readily available and reasonably priced. You will find Health Lab beauty and wellness blends in your local Woolworths in the Vitamin aisle or direct from Health Lab
3. Limiting coffee intake
I love my coffee. However it was becoming quite a bad, bad habit. It was becoming more just out of the habit of making a coffee that I would not drink. Or I would drink half and rest would get thrown out!! I was starting to not even enjoy drinking coffee.
My skinny lattes days are over! At home I have along back with a dash of milk most of the time. If I order out it is a strong skinny latte or the occasional long black. My habit had become three to four coffees a day!! I now only have one or two. Whilst I do have a coffee first thing in the morning, my next goal in the new year to hold off on that morning coffee till after breakfast!
4. An organised Fridge
Who does not love an organised fridge. I am completely obsessed. Nothing makes more happy than after a grocery shop and setting the fridge up!
Sitting in my cupboard I have had Tupperware fridge mate containers for so long, barely using them! I finally got myself super organised in the fridge department. After a food shop I get everything washed, prepped up and organised containers. It makes life so much easier when grabbing fruit for the kids/myself, cooking or just trying to find a certain item. An organised fridge is one healthy habit which has now continued on into my pantry (stay tuned for that upcoming post).
5. The Program that keeps me organised
I won’t go too much into this as I feel it deserves a whole blog post of its own. If you have not heard of 28 By Sam Wood I highly recommend checking it out! Not just healthy habits but a lifestyle. From meals to exercise. (read more on my brunch plus a few tips with Sam Wood here)
Perfect for busy mums. This has honestly made me much more organised when it comes to meals. No more sitting there flicking through my recipe collection planning out what I will make for the week. It is all done for you on the app. Like I said I wont into too much detail but each week all your meals will be planned out. There is the option of swapping meals if you do not like a particualar food. Once you have finalised all your meals for the week a shopping list is put together for you. Simply print it out and go purchase the groceries you need. Getting organised for the week ahead nutritionally has never been so easy.
