Back to gym! Guess who signed back up at the gym? MEEEE!!!! Omg I am so excited to get back to gym. And boy does it feel good to be back!
Are you back at the gym? Did you have an extended long break from the gym?
Confidence feeling a little low on the thought of stepping back in the gym?
It had been twelve long months now since I stepped foot in a gym. Lockdowns here in Melbourne had majority to do with it. We endured one of the toughest lockdowns! Add in moving house (complete move of area) so I cancelled the gym membership I did have. However we are settled in, my two girls are settled in school/kinder, new routines, slaying my nutrition studies so the time felt right for myself to get back to gym. Time for me again and time to make my health a top priority. The is no better feeling lifting heavier, feeling strong and feeling 110% happy within yourself again.
Since I can not contain my excitement on being back in my happy place, here are 5 useful and fun tips for getting started back to gym. Or even if you are going for the first time these will help boost your confidence!
Back to Gym 5 Tips
1. Have a plan
Take your program with you. Write your work out program on paper. Take a photo on your phone. Whatever you need to do go with a plan that way when you walk into the gym you know exactly what you are doing.
2. Activewear that makes YOU feel good
You want to feel amazing within yourself and confident in walking around, not feeling conscious about what you are wearing. It is all about how you feel! Put on your favourite set, activewear that feels comfy and of course functional. Leggings that you know will stay up, leggings that aren’t see through, supportive crops and perhaps a fresh pair of sneakers you have been lusting after.
Ps. I will pop a list below of some of my current favourites.
3. Time it
Ok this may be a little tricky depending upon your lifestyle and daily schedule. For the first week try not to go at peak times and go when it’s less busy. This will allow you to navigate your way around and familiarise yourself with the equipment.
4. The comparison thing
DONT compare yourself to anyone else!! You are you! We all have our own individual goals. Every single person in the gym has their own goals. The only person I’m comparing myself to is ME!!
5. Who gives two hoots!!
WGAF is straight to the point haha. Who even cares. Everyone is too busy counting reps, counting sets, timing, loading weights, headphones on to even, probably even filming their form, wiping equipment to really notice much else of what else is happening around them. Go in there and do your thing!!
