I will confess I absolutely love my skincare products and I strongly believe in a good skincare routine. I remember as young girl watching my grandmother slather her skin in rich body creams every night after a shower. I also have my mother to thank for teaching me good skin care habits from a young age. Even with as busy, exhausting, demanding, motherhood or life in general may get I always put in the effort for a good skincare routine. When your skin looks good you feel good!
During winter our skin can become dry, cracked, flakey, redness and irritated. Cold wind/air, spending time indoors with the heating on and hot showers all contribute to zapping the moisture from our skin. Whilst we cover ourselves up in layers of warm clothes during winter we must not forget to nourish our skin. Winter is the perfect time to get your skin all prepped, smooth and glowing for the up coming summer weather. As we have just reached our last official month of winter I wanted to share with you the skincare products that have become a part of my winter skincare regime.
Avène XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cream and Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil
Lets start with the fact that these products are great for the whole family! The Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil is perfect for skin thats naturally dry and prone to itching. It’s fragrance free, soap free and leaves my skin feeling so hydrated after a hot shower. The Lipid-Replenishing Cream I love to slather a thick layer of this on under a sweater and sweatpants in the evening! The next morning my skin feels so silky smooth. Once again this is perfect for skin that is naturally dry and prone to itching.
One thing that we can easily forget to take care of is our hands and lips. They are hit the hardest by all winter aggressions as they are a majority of the time always exposed. Before I head outdoors, under lipgloss/lipstick or even inside I always apply a layer of Atoderm Baume Lèvres Restorative Lip Balm. It is packed with the goodies like avocado oil and shea butter. For my hands I am always struggling with dry hands. Perhaps its from working in the hairdressing industry for over ten years my hands were always exposed to water and strong chemicals. I have tried so many different hand creams throughout the years however I am currently loving Atoderm Mains and Ongles. A hand cream that doesn’t leave my hands feeling greasy and they actually stay feeling hydrated! It acts like nourishing “glove” for your hands
Face Care Winter Must Haves
A good eye cream is a priority for me. Although the price tag may turn you off some eye creams, you do only need the tiniest amount so a little definitely goes a long way in this case! Im all about an eye cream that reduces the fine lines, wrinkles, supports elasticity and shadows. I have been using Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Cream for the last two months using morning/night and let me say I am loving the results.
Along with eye cream I love a good face cream. Obagi Hydrate Luxe Moisture Rich Cream has been my go to throughout winter. Although they say it is specifically engineered for overnight use I have been using it on the days I wear very minimal makeup. Packed with peptides that reduce fine lines, wrinkles, increase skin firmness and strength, along with the yummy goodies of shea butter, mango butter and avocado oil. Once again I love the magic it has been working!
The Beauty Chef. If you haven’t heard about The Beauty Chef then you need to check her out! I want all her products! The Dream Repair Cellular Serum has made its way as a staple in my skincare cupboard. Packed with over 15 powerful ingredients, collagen boosting, radiance and antioxidant cellular repair the list could go on. Don’t let the word serum make you think “oily”. I can apply this under my moisturiser and a face of makeup and my makeup sits perfectly fine all day long.
I tend to go for a gentle hydrating cleansing during this time of year, as I find my skin can easily become irritated by harsh cleansers. Enter Grown Alchemist Hydra-Restore Cream Cleanser. It removes my makeup, doesn’t irritate my skin leaving redness nor feeling dry.
Lastly, up to three times a week I like to treat my skin to Skinstitut Enzymatic Micro Peel. It may sound harsh but its not harsh at at all. In fact its a low intensity soothing micro exfoliant particularly for dry and sensitive skin. Hence why I love using on my skin three times a week for a healthy glow
