One thing you may have learnt about me is how much I love my beauty products. Whilst I am definately not a beauty/skincare guru I am passionate about looking after my skin. Skinstitut has been part of my skincare routine for some time now. When the opportunity came along for facial treatment with Skinstitut I was so excited!
Back in early September I headed off for my first skin peel treatment with Skinstitut. Now the first thought that came to mind was Samantha in that episode of SATC. Remember the episode where she had a chemical peel and walked around with a bright red face. I was certain that would be me! Well let me tell you my experience was definitely not that!
My lovely Skinstitut therapist for the morning was Joanne. Such lovely lady who reassured me I would definitely not walk out looking like Samantha ha! First things first we spoke about all my skin concerns, skincare routine, products Im using and previous treatments on my skin. I have been pretty lucky I have never had any real skin issues. However now being in my thirties my prime concern is fine line and wrinkles. Whatever I can do to help prevent and slow down the ageing process (before injectables) I want to know. I truly believe that when your skin looks good you feel good.
The clinical treatment Joanne performed was a AHA Enzyme Peel, a gentle minor exfoliating treatment. One of the most gentlest peels you can have. It is designed to soothe, hydrate, micro exfoliate dry, flaking and sensitive skins. After a cold Melbourne winter, constantly exposed to heating and along with finishing breastfeeding, my skin needed a good “buff”.
Starting off with a double cleanse consisting of one gentle and one deep, to remove all traces of makeup. Next the degreasing stage. To describe the degreasing stage is as exactly as the word degreasing sounds! A peel accelorator is used to remove excess build up of oils on the skin, prepping the skin for the peel stage. The enzymatic micro peel is then applied to skin and massaged in for five minutes. The enzymatic micro peel contains papain enzymes which wait for it…. eat away at all the dead skin cells! Whilst the enzymes work their magic on removing all the dead skin, grapeseed oil and hydraulic acid work to plump, hydrate and restore radiance. After the treatment is complete Age Defence SPF 50+ is applied. The whole process was actually quite relaxing with only a minor tingle here and there.
After the treatment my skin felt so smooth and looked glowing. With no redness, I could step back into the outside world without hiding my face!
Whilst some minor peeling can occur after AHA Enzyme Peel I didn’t have any. As the days went on my skin felt continuously glowing and I received comments on how fresh my skin looked. I look forward to getting back for my next clinical Skinstitut Treatment
My Skinstitut at home Program
Gentle Cleanser – First step in my cleansing process as it removes all traces of makeup
L-Lactic Cleanser – One of my absolute favourite cleansers. Exfoliates, hydrates, refines and strengthens the skin. My skin is never left with that “tight” feeling after use.
Enzymatic Micro Peel – I am obsessed with this product ever since I was introduced back at the start of winter. It works absolute wonders. Joanne gave me the best tip ever for this product. After I’ve cleansed my face at night I have been applying a layer and leaving it on my skin over night. In the morning my skin feels amazingly smooth! I do this 2-3 times a week and put a little layer of moisturiser over top.
Multi-Active Mist – A mist I apply morning and night after cleansing before moisturising. To hydrate, improve tone, promote radiance, reduce sensitivities and neutralise free radicals
Rejuvenate 15 – Hydrating serum rich in copper, minerals and peptides for skin renewal. Increases skin firmness and elasticity, contains Vitamin A
Ultra Firming Eye & Neck Cream – To me the neck area is one area we can easily forget about. However it is also a tell tale sign of ageing. I am one of those women who slathers her face cream all the way down her onto her décolletage area to protect it. I love this product as its specifically for the eye and neck area, plus only the smallest amount is needed! Works all the magic, reducing fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, puffiness, tightens and improves texture.
Retinol – I use this product twice a week . Retinol is not one to be scared of. It is a form of Vitamin A helping cell renewal in the skin by increasing collagen and elastin production. For smoother, clearer, lifted and more even skin tone
Moisture Defence Ultra Dry – An intense hydration moisturiser with peptides. Never feels heavy on my skin and my makeup sits well for the day. My skin also feels hydrated all day long
Age Defence SPF 50+ – I will admit this is one product I need to use more! With Joanne informing me I should be using this on my skin every single day especially as I do spend a bit of time outside! One of those products you can pop under makeup and also on the backs of your hands!
So it may seem like a huge amount of products to use I do believe your skin is worth the investment. One thing I love about Skinstitut is that they are Australian made, Australian owned and not tested on animals. Along with all their products retailing at the recommended price of $45 each. Which in comparison to other high end skincare products it makes them affordable.
Whilst everyone has different skin concerns, please remember what I have mentioned above has been recommended for my skin. Skinstitut make its easy to help you select the right products with their 5 A Day consultation tool. To discover more on this tool click here.
