Miss Frankie was created by professional manicurist and salon owner Kara Jeffers. Not only is the Miss Frankie formula five-free but it also made right here in Australia! Five-free means there is no nasty toxic ingredients. Which means it is safe to use when pregnant and on little girls who love to have their nail painted like mummy. Along with happy healthy nails Miss Frankie is also cruelty free and vegan.
I have been using Miss Frankie for over the past month. The prettiest packaged nail polish I have ever layed eyes on. The colours are gorgeous, the great coverage is fabulous and considering how many dishes I wash it lasts!
Today on blog welcome Kara Jeffer’s for a little chat
1.Hey Kara, thank you for taking the time to chat on the blog today. You are the creator behind the fabulous Miss Frankie firstly can you tell us a little about yourself?
Thanks for having me! I previously owned nail salon French Pink in Melbourne CBD for 11 years. Earlier this year I had to decide if I wanted to renew my lease for another five years. At the time Miss Frankie was close to launching. With three young children the idea of running a service based business, with staff in the city was just getting too hard. It was sad to say goodbye to my amazing clients but, I am so happy to be starting the Miss Frankie journey. Building a business from scratch is exciting and I wake up every day with all these ideas of what I want to do next.
2. Now I am so in love with the pretty pink packaging, probably the prettiest packaged nail polish I’ve seen! How did the idea of Miss Frankie come about?
After 11 years of manicuring and only ever doing natural nails (my salon never did gel/shellac or acrylics) I noticed more of my clients wanting a non-toxic polish that still delivered salon quality results. In the back of my mind I had always wanted to do my own brand, slowly Miss Frankie evolved from there.
I was really passionate about getting the packaging right and actually contacted a client who was a graphic designer. I had not seen her for years but we caught up. In that first meeting I knew that she completely understood what I was after. That night she sent me a mock up of our Miss Frankie box which is the design we are using. There were a couple of hurdles, the rose gold foiling certainly proved a bit more difficult than expected! I am so thrilled I persevered as my original vision has come to life.
3. The Miss Frankie formula is five-free and breathable! How is that possible?
A couple of years ago I started researching formulas and then found a great Australian manufacturer that had the right ethos and could produce a non-toxic, vegan and cruelty free product. I really wanted to have a formula that was free from the 5 main chemicals found in traditional polish (you can read more about these on the Miss Frankie blog)! Having a breathable base also allows air and water to pass through which provides a healthier environment for the nails.
4. With all the yummiest shades of pink and a couple of grey/blues I would have to say BFF and Yes way, Rosé are my favourite shades. Do you have a favourite from the collection?
Well I pretty much wear a pale pink polish most of the time (which explains why I have five shades of pink in the range)! If I HAD to choose one, my favourite would probably be BFF but I am also loving the opaque nudes at the moment so I Prefer Champagne is a close second.
5. What is next for Miss Frankie? Where would you love to see her go?
Since I entered the nail industry more than a decade ago my vision has always been to help people transition back to natural nails and away from shellac and gels. I am loving the support we have received on social media from fellow natural-beauty enthusiasts. The next step is to get lots of retailers on board stocking our polishes to meet the growing demand for a high quality, natural nail polish. I definitely have lots of ideas for more products to add to our range including new colours for each season. We also have some exciting collaborations in the works, so watch this space!
6. Lastly as a professional manicurist and salon owner, what are some of your tips for keeping our hands and nails in top condition?
It is so important to keep your hands and nails hydrated! I use the Miss Frankie ‘Nourish Me’ cuticle oil several times a day (have one in the car, next my bed, in my handbag). Shape your nails with a good quality, natural nail file so you don’t get splits and breaks. Every now treat yourself to a good manicure. You can do this yourself or find a good quality salon. Finally, once your polish starts chipping, take it off and apply a clear polish or buff in some cuticle oil in between colours!
