It is hard to believe that twelve months have already past and our baby girl Scarlett Chloe has turned one! Where has the day of our tiny newborn gone? The first birthday party planning came round so fast! Not to mention her cake smash at home was super adorable! (you can read more here)
In typical Melbourne style the weather turned on some great winter weather for us, cue rain and plenty of cold winds. However that didn’t dampen our day and we had the most amazing day. We chose to baptise her the day of her first birthday party the same as we did with Aria. The baptism being the first Sunday of a new month fell on the 6th of August, two weeks after she turned one. Coincidently that date also happened to be her “due date”! The day was celebrated with our immediate family and close friends.
The event was held at The Terminus Hotel in Clifton Hill in the upstairs function room. A venue we have frequently visited and where we also held Aria’s first birthday. We had a canapé style function and plenty of beverage options for our guests. The staff there are amazing.
FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY THEME
It took me a while to decide on a theme for Scarlett’s first birthday party. I wanted something pretty, something girly but not too pink! There was nothing grabbing my attention until I fell in love with a bunch of flowers I brought from Fowlers Flowers. Think wintery pink/purple/white florals with plenty of green foliage. I went back to Fowlers Flowers and put in an order for Scarlett’s Birthday. I guess you would say her theme was a floral affair? We had two large bouquets and two smaller posey’s on the sweets table plus flowers to decorate the cake. I kept it all pretty simple. For other decoration pieces I needed I went straight to my favourite party shop Lavender and Honey Co. Elise is amazing at what she creates. Truly unique pieces that are all carefully crafted. She created the beautiful cake topper and ONE banner.
The number one light I picked up from Kmart you can shop here
Scarlett’s outfit I went straight to Bardot Junior. Bardot Junior always have the prettiest party dresses for little ones. Her dress is no longer available but they do have a very similar style you can shop here. We skipped the traditional baptism outfit and she wore the same dress to church and her party. Her beautiful flower crown was created by the talented Francesca at Petals n Bows. I pretty much left it to Francesca to create something to suit the flowers we had ordered and the fabric of Scareltt’s dress. I was blown away when the crown arrived it was perfect! The little gold shoes I had brought her from HM she had outgrown by the time her party came, so thankfully she had a pair of Seed shoes that fit!!! Her little cropped cardigan was from H&M
To keep all the kiddies entertained we booked Fairy Freckles and Friends. The lovely Rachael was our Fairy Princess with her magic tricks, game of limbo, balloon skills and the best face painting I have seen! Rather than giving the kids their party bags at the end of the party we gave them upon arrival. Filled with bubbles, star sunglasses and a few treats to keep them entertained.
THE TABLE SETTING
I do love a bit of DIY so the invites and some of the sweets I created myself. Other sweet treats on the sweets table which we sourced were miniature cakes think cheesecakes + lemon meringues, various slices and Tims Tams. The four layered sponge cake was grandmothers sponge cake recipe and sorry I cant share that recipe with you! We kept the cake pretty simple with fresh strawberries and cream. The “Scarlett is One” cookies are quite easy to make if you set aside some time. You can find the recipe I always use here. I always double the recipe. For icing I find the easiest to use is the Coles brand ready to roll icing.
