The warmer weather is well and truly upon us. Long days spent outside basking in the sunshine, kids playing in the park, beachside frolics and warm balmy nights. Along with the warmer weather the harsh rays of the Australian sun. Then the difficult task of trying to get your little one to keep their hat on! Yes the struggle is real in our household. Cue Bedhead Hats.
Richelle Ellis is the hat lady behind Bedhead Hats. Launched in 2011 Bedhead Hats have a UPF 50+ Excellent Protection rating whilst designed to stay on the smallest of heads. Think no more floppy style brims, hard fabrics that feel to harsh on the skin and no stretch to allow for growing. I know first hand along with many more of you how difficult it can be to find a good sunhat, particularly for a newborn that ticks all the boxes. Or one that my three year old will keep on!
Bedhead Hats are made of a stretchy lightweight cotton jersey and designed to be pram and baby carrier friendly. With a chin strap that can be easily removed if required. From legionnaires to baby buckets to swim hats Bedhead Hats has children of all ages covered. Solid colours and fun tasteful prints there is a style for all. Another one of my favourite features is the inbuilt name tag label! Genius right? Just simply write your childs name on the tag inside and away you go.
It is scary to think that Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. What we don’t realise though is that the first ten years of life play a large part in determining our potential for skin cancer. On September 15th Bedhead Hats kicks off the “Protect the Potential” initiative. A fantastic community initiative where Bedhead Hats will be giving away $100,000 worth of hats. For every order placed online Bedhead Hats will gift or donate a newborn hat to a baby in need. Customers can choose to gift the hat to someone they know in need. Or the option to donate to a charity aiding disadvantaged mothers and babies. Such great initiative where not only are you protecting your little one but also protecting another little baby.
“I wish for all babies to have the best in protection from the sun, so they can go onto meet their full potential in life. By launching the Protect the Potential initiative, we are doing our part to take responsible steps to make a difference to the next generation of children” – Richelle Ellis
